"SandBlast" recorded today

Hi all,

I've just added a new tune that I recorded today. It's called "SandBlast". I think I've been grooving on all the nice weather we've been having lately. I hope you enjoy it.

Another new one, just recorded less than an hour ago...

Hello again,

I've been enjoying the open G tuning but I wanted a more traditional southern blues sound for this piece. I'm calling it "First Hint of the Sun" because today is the nicest day we've had in Portland in quite some time. Hope you enjoy it!

Two more tunes just added

I've added two more songs today. The Abyss and Duality. These really are nothing more than just practice sessions. I like the guitar tone on The Abyss and also enjoy the feel. It's really just a jam over one chord so not a lot going on behind the guitar. But I like the vibe so that's why I've added it here. Duality is an exploration of dual guitars playing the same chord vamp. Again, it's really just a practice session but does contain a seed of something that could grow. I'd like to come up with lyrics and vocals for this at some point. Unfortunately I seem to currently be without lyrical inspiration. Hope that changes soon! Anyway, enjoy! And thanks for listening.

New song recorded and added today...

Hi all,

Well I must be homesick for Hawaii or something. My 25th high school reunion was last week and I didn't make it back for it. But I've been looking at a bunch of pictures online and it sure looks like I missed a good time. I woke up this morning with a melody in my head that was crying out for a slack key tuning. This is what I came up with and I'm calling it Reunion. It's a little rough around the edges but I think this one could develop into something nice eventually.

Thanks for listening!

"Beanskin" - New recording just added

I just added a new instrumental called "Beanskin." I recorded this a couple of weeks ago when I was fooling around with my guitar tone. There were actually two versions of this tune that I combined together. The first section is in Em and has a vocal chant that I added when I was testing my mic. Thus all you will hear me sing on this is the word "check." The second section moves up to Am and contains a bit more jamming. I really like the lick in the first section but I came up with that after I had recorded the second section so it doesn't last through the whole thing. Anyway, this was just a loose recording, but I kind of like it. Hope you do too!

Today is a good day. One more...

This is a rough cut of a tune I've been working on for the last week or so. The guitar riff started out as an exercise that I played over the Bm. Jen heard it and loved it, said it was stirring up something old inside of her. She came back today with a bunch of pictures that she had taken on a walk. Flowers in bloom. (See her picture of a spring Iris right here. I think it's amazing and one of her best photos ever.) That's when I decided to call it "Jennifer Alone in the Garden." Please go to the LISTEN page. Today I built the song from the Bm by adding some changes. It felt really good to strip this one down to just the piano and guitar. Love the overdrive guitar on top of the piano.
